The Ayuntamiento, or Town Hall, has been the main public administrative building in the municipality since it first achieved independent status in 1834 and is centrally located in the Plaza de España, surrounded by the attractive gardens of this centric plaza.
Although there are other administrative dependencies, this is the main starting point for anyone with queries relating to any aspect of the practicalities of living in the municipality.
The building itself is an attractive nineteenth century structure and was built in the Neomudejar style, which includes Arabic scripts, decorative horseshoe window arches and ornamental tracery .
Inside is an attractive wrought iron staircase, although the building has been restored to incorporate more modern amenities.
There is parking around the edge of the plaza itself, which is also an attractive place to enjoy a coffee from one of the bars or shops surrounding the plaza.
