Click HereThis is very much a traditional weekly market and includes all manner of goods, typically fruit and veg, clothing, footwear, accessories, flowers and plants and household items. It is held in and around Calle Murcia in the northern outskirts of the town, "outside" the ring road.
There are always lots of good bargains in the market, and it’s a real pleasure to shop in these busy local open-air markets.
Safety advice: Any market, anywhere in the world, is vulnerable to pick-pockets, and it is highly advisable to pay particular attention to the location of wallets and purses. Handbags are always a target, so be careful not to put a handbag down where it could be quickly picked up by a thief and choose a handbag which doesn´t have a zip on the top if going to any street market or crowded place.
Always buy from vendors showing the prices of merchandise and ask for a receipt (ticket) as in the Murcia Region vendors must provide one by law, in order to protect shoppers.
The street market is open from around 9.00 (traders are unpacking prior to this and generally ready start selling around 8.45) until lunchtime, with stalls beginning to close down from 13.30 onwards, depending on how busy their morning has been!
Plaza de Abastos
Águilas has an indoor market place which is open throughout the week selling a selection of fresh food stuffs. This is open from Monday to Saturday between 9am and 2pm.
The market place is less used than in former years and is also used as a venue for gastronomic events during the year.
Address: Plaza Juez de Paz Jm Guillén, 4, 30880 Águilas, Murcia
