Alicante battens down the hatches for more DANA storms: Weather forecast Nov 11-14
The Valencian Community has been issued with fresh severe weather alerts as a new DANA approaches southern Spain
Weather outlook for the Valencian Community on Wednesday November 13
The dust has hardly settled in the flood-ravaged Valencian Community after the devastating storms of last week but residents are preparing for a fresh onslaught in the coming days.
According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), a new DANA (Isolated Depression at High Levels) will bring more intense rain, strong winds and a drastic temperature drop to much of Spain, with the province of Alicante in the firing line this time around.
Although the trajectory of the latest weather front could still change, it looks as though Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, the Mediterranean coast of Andalucía and the Valencian Community will bear the brunt from Tuesday November 12, with the latter on orange alert for torrential rain.
Here’s what we can expect from the weather in Alicante this week:
Monday November 11
The week will begin bright and sunny in Alicante province but the dark clouds will start rolling in later in the day. Scattered showers are forecast during the afternoon, which could be heavy in places, but the downpours should be kept at bay for the time being.
Daytime temperatures will remain unchanged, hovering around 21ºC, while the evening temperatures will dip to a chilly 11ºC in parts.
Tuesday November 12
The weather will start to worsen on Tuesday, and the north of the province has been placed on yellow alert for driving rain from noon. The skies will be mostly cloudy or overcast and there’s a chance of showers or heavier rain throughout Alicante.
The nights will continue to get cooler, exacerbated by a moderate north-easterly wind along the coast.
Wednesday November 13
Following rain throughout the night, all of Alicante is in for a wet and dreary Wednesday with dark skies and widespread showers that will be heavy and persistent in most parts.
Daytime temperatures will plummet, more noticeably in the south, and the north-easterly winds will feel very blustery along the coast at times.
The northern coast has been issued with a yellow weather alert for dangerous sea conditions.
Thursday November 14
The weather warnings have been lifted for Thursday but the day still promises to be very cloudy and dull, with widespread rain and showers turning thundery in the north of the province.
Although the breeze will still be moderately strong, daytime temperatures should climb by a degree or two in most places.
