Andalucía weekly weather forecast July 13-16: Heat builds again as the week gets going
A largely clear start gives way to rising temperatures and returning warnings by midweek
Last week saw heat warnings gradually ease across most Andalucía, offering a slight respite after a punishing stretch. This week that window closes fairly quickly. Temperatures are on the rise again from Monday, and by Wednesday warnings are back for parts of the eastern coast and inland areas. It's shaping up to be another warm one.Monday July 13
Andalucía maximum temperatures, Monday July 13A clean start to the week. Skies are mostly clear or sunny, with some low morning cloud on the Atlantic side that should clear through the morning. Temperatures are rising, with maximums climbing across the board. Seville and Huelva both fall under those improving but warming conditions. Winds are light and variable inland, with moderate westerlies picking up along the coast.
Tuesday July 14
Andalucía temperatures, Tuesday July 14Intervals of mid- and high-level cloud drift in, but it stays largely dry and bright. Temperatures continue to rise, and heat warnings are now active for Almería, Granada and Málaga, covering the Mediterranean coastal areas and the eastern interior. Tarifa sits on either end of the region, both seeing light to moderate westerly winds along their respective coastlines.
Wednesday July 15
The warmest day of t5e period. Cloud builds through the afternoon in the eastern half, with a chance of isolated light showers in the mountain ranges, but for most of the region it stays dry. Cádiz is the one place staying relatively comfortable, holding below 30°C, while Córdoba reaches 40°C and Granada climbs to 41°C. The Atlantic coast sees temperatures rise significantly in places, with winds shifting westerly during the day there, and becoming southerly along the Mediterranean coast.
Thursday July 16
Andalucía temperatures, Thursday July 16A slight easing after Wednesday's peaks. Partly cloudy or clear skies return, and maximum temperatures hold steady or nudge down a touch, although inland, including Jaén, remians very hot. Minimums are rising though, particularly in the lower Guadalquivir valley. Winds are light and variable through the morning, picking up to moderate westerlies during the afternoon. Málaga, having carried warnings through much of the week, should see a small but welcome drop in the afternoon high.
The heat is back in charge. Wednesday is the day to watch, with Córdoba and Granada both pushing deep into the forties. Keep an eye on official warnings if you're planning to be out and about.
