Bodies of Murcia couple and the remains of their missing plane found in Sierra de Cazorla

The bodies of a couple from Murcia whose light aircraft went missing last Friday, October 18, have been found in Jaén.

Alfonso, 68, and his wife, Isabel, 65, went missing on Friday, when the plane they were travelling in disappeared.

The Guardia Civil has now confirmed that the remains of the aircraft, as well as the bodies of both individuals, have been found in the Sierra de Cazorla.

The family and friends of the couple have already been informed of the discovery. The couple were both from Murcia. Alonso was a retired firefighter and Isabel was a caretaker.

One of the last known clues about the location of the aircraft came from a trace of the primary radar of the ultralight, which placed it in the vicinity of the El Tranco de Beas reservoir in the Sierra de Cazorla mountains.

In the end, the remains of the aircraft appeared near Navalperal, confirmed the Government Subdelegation in Jaén. Relatives of the couple then travelled to the site.

The Civil Guard has taken charge of the investigation and are working on the hypothesis that Alfonso, an experienced pilot, lost control of the aircraft's controls and it crashed.

The couple is believed to have died instantly from the impact. It is being investigated whether adverse weather conditions were the cause of the fatal accident.
