The atmospheric La Abadía restaurant in Alhama de Murcia is located in Calle General García Díaz, close to the main dual carriageway which skirts the southern end of the town, and offers a wide range of Mediterranean-style cuisine.
The premises seat up to 70 customers in a dining area which is decorated in a way which will be familiar to some pub-goers from the UK: apart from the main open area there also cubicles in the style of prayer boxes along one side, offering a more private dining experience. This ties in with the name of the restaurant: “La Abadía” means “The Abbey”, and at the same time the pub-related theme is strengthened by the range of import beers which are on sale.
Among the house specialities are numerous rice dishes, meat dishes and tasty snacks, and a Menú del Día is available at just 10€ per head. Group menus can be sampled at between 18€and 35€.
There is access for those of limited mobility to both the dining-room and the toilets. Specific parking is not offered to visitors but it is generally not hard to find a space nearby, and the restaurant is no more than a 10-minute walk from the Plaza de la Constitución and the Town Hall in the centre of Alhama.
