Stormy and unsettled bank holiday weekend: Spain weather forecast April 30-May 3
Northern and eastern areas of Spain face the highest risk of storms as the long weekend unfolds

Weather outlook on Saturday May 2
After a settled start, the May bank holiday weekend across mainland Spain is shaping up to be a mixed bag, with sunshine giving way to showers and storms in several areas. Northern and eastern provinces are likely to see the most unsettled conditions, with the risk of thunder, hail and gusty winds, especially later in the day.
According to Aemet, the coming days will bring a shift from relatively calm weather to more changeable conditions, particularly as we head into the long weekend.
Thursday April 30

Thursday looks like the pick of the days for many parts of Spain, with generally settled weather and a good amount of sunshine.
That said, cloud will build over northern mountain areas and parts of the east, where some showers and storms could develop later in the day. These could be locally heavy in places, particularly in the southeast.
Weather warnings are in place from 3pm in parts of Andalucia, Castilla-La Mancha and the Region of Murcia, where rain and storms may cause some disruption.
Friday May 1

Labour Day itself brings a noticeable change, especially across the eastern half of the country and along the north coast.
Showers are expected to develop throughout the afternoon in areas such as the Pyrenees, Teruel, the Valencian Community, eastern Castilla-La Mancha and inland parts of Murcia. Some of these could turn heavy and may come with thunder, hail and strong gusts of wind, although now weather alerts have been issued.
Elsewhere, it should stay largely dry with sunny spells, although a few isolated showers cannot be ruled out.
Temperatures will vary depending on location. Madrid is expected to reach around 23°C, Murcia and Ourense could see highs of 25°C and Seville may climb close to 30°C.
Saturday May 2

Saturday looks even more unsettled across much of mainland Spain, with cloud increasing and showers becoming more widespread.
Storms are likely in many areas, particularly in the north and east, where some downpours could be heavy at times. Areas at higher risk include parts of the Cantabrian coast, the Ebro valley and inland eastern regions.
In contrast, western areas such as Extremadura and western Andalucia are expected to see more stable conditions, with only occasional and scattered showers.
Temperatures are set to dip slightly compared with Friday, although it will still feel mild overall for the time of year.
Sunday May 3

Unsettled conditions may linger into the early hours of Sunday, especially in the northeast, where cloudy skies and scattered showers are likely.
As the day goes on, brighter conditions should gradually spread from west to east, with sunshine returning to many areas by the afternoon. The far north is likely to stay cloudier, with some rain continuing along the coast.
Temperatures will edge up slightly in the southeast, while cooler air lingers across northern parts of the country.
