November 9-13 Benidorm Festival and fancy dress party
The Costa Blanca tourist capital is preparing for the party of the year
Music, fireworks and fancy dress take centre stage at this year’s Benidorm Festival (Festes Majors Patronals), running between November 9 and 13. The annual patron saint celebrations are one of the most important fiestas in the tourism capital of the Costa Blanca, offering a unique mix of religious tradition and excitement.
Enjoy live performances by top artists like Carlos Baute, who will take the stage on Monday November 11 at the Plaza de SS.MM. Los Reyes de España, and the Marlene Orchestra, who will perform at Hort de Colón on the same night.
But there’s lots more. The world-class music line-up also includes:
- Deprisa y Corriendo (Pop Rock) at Huerto Colón on Saturday November 9, at 11pm
- Zarey (Urban Music) and a festival of local DJs at Plaza de SS.MM. Los Reyes de España on Saturday November 9, at 11.30pm
- Trampa (Tardeo) at Hort de Colón on Sunday November 10, at 5pm
- Carne de Cañón at Hort de Colón on Sunday November 10, at 10.30pm
- Monaco Party orchestra at Plaza de SS.MM. Los Reyes de España on Sunday November 10, at 11pm
- Tribute concert to Estopa, "Cacho a cacho" at Plaza de SS.MM. Los Reyes de España on Tuesday November 12, at midnight
- Jose Coll en Cabina at Plaza de SS.MM. Los Reyes de España on Tuesday November 12, at 1.30am.
Fireworks extravaganza
As always, the fireworks displays will light up the sky. Don't miss the pyrotechnic events, including:
- Aerial displays every day at 8am
- Mascletàs on Avenida Jaime I on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday at 2pm
- Night-time mascletà on Tuesday at 11pm on Avenida Jaime I
- Children's mascletà and candy firecracker on Wednesday at 1pm at Plaza de SS.MM. Los Reyes de España
- Pyro-digital Mascletà sponsored by the Association of Pensions on Avenida Jaime I on Wednesday at 2pm
- Traditional Fireworks Display on Tuesday night, after the float parade.
Fancy dress party
Benidorm’s annual costume party is one of the biggest in Europe and on November 14, people young and old will take to the streets in their most elaborate and creative get-up.
Last year around 40,000 people turned out for the street party and this year it is expected that number will be closer to 50,000.
Traditional events
In addition to the music, fireworks and fancy dress party, the city will also be hosting a range of traditional events in honour of its patron saint, including:
- Entrada de Bandas
- Staging of the Finding of the Virgen del Sufragio
- Offering of Flowers
- Processions in honour of the patron saint
- Float parade on Tuesday night, followed by the traditional fireworks display
